Why It Matters

What proper pruning actually does.

  • Clears roofs, pools and power lines
  • Removes dead and diseased wood before it falls
  • Builds wind resistance before hurricane season
  • Shapes the canopy for light and healthy growth

A bad prune is worse than no prune at all. Topping and lion-tailing weaken a tree for years and invite exactly the storm damage you were trying to prevent. Our cuts follow the tree's biology — so it heals fast and grows back stronger.

Our Cuts

Every cut has a reason.

Canopy raise

Lifting lower limbs to clear roofs, driveways, sightlines and your Saturday mowing path.

Crown thinning

Selective removal of crowded branches so wind passes through instead of pushing against.

Deadwooding

Taking out dead, dying and diseased wood before gravity does it for you.

Hurricane prep

Pre-season structural work that gives your trees their best chance in a Gulf storm.

Structural pruning

Guiding young trees early so they grow strong for decades instead of failing at maturity.

We follow ISA pruning standards on every job — never flush cuts, never topping.

Hurricane season runs June–November. Book trimming by May for the shortest wait.

Pruning Questions

Good to know.

As a rule of thumb in Northeast Florida: oaks every 3–5 years, palms yearly, and fast growers whenever they start reaching for the roof. We'll tell you what each tree actually needs — some need less than you'd think.
Late winter through spring is ideal for most species here, and trimming before hurricane season (June–November) is the smartest timing of all. That said, hazardous deadwood should come out whenever you spot it — don't wait on the calendar.
Done properly, the opposite — pruning improves the tree's health, structure and storm resistance. What hurts trees is topping, flush cuts and removing too much at once. We follow ISA standards, so every cut helps the tree heal and grow stronger.
